Those Guys Racing rolled into Parker, AZ, fully intent on defending their position as Top Eliminator Champion for 2014.
Those Guys Racing scored a victory at the season opener after making a few changes during the off season including the installation of an Edelbrock Direct Port Nitrous system. They made four test and tune passes on Friday, with the best pass being a 7.04 ET on a 7.00 index. Saturday qualifying saw Those Guys Racing making just one qualifying pass and clocking in at 7.08. The team made a decision to sit out the next 2 qualifying sessions. Crew chief Gary Breistig said, “Boys, I have all the data I need so let’s save the resources.” On Sunday the TGR team started out of the number 6 slot in a 15-boat field. First round was won on a hole shot by driver Garrett Breistig who ran a 7.15 with a little paddle job through the traps. After the pass it was off to the pits to load the data from Edlebrock’s Qwikdata 2 software and prepare for next round. Round 2 the boat ran a 7.05 for the win and it was on to the semi-finals. Garret proved to be faster of the line, once again, and it was off to the finals with 7.12. The final round was a great race with both drivers cutting almost identical lights. Garrett cut a .12 to Doug’s .13 light, but it was too much Edelbrock nitrous for the blow-injected hydro. Garrett and Those Guys Racing took the weekend win with another 7.04.
Other Edelbrock-equipped boats were also on top of their games this last weekend in Parker, AZ. Kjell Adams, who competes with an Edelbrock QwikData 2, was able to come out on top of the Quick Eliminator Class, while QwikData 2 and an Edelbrock Nitrous setup saw Andy Ralls on the podium in Pro Eliminator. It was a great weekend for Edelbrock components as they were on boats that won 3 out of the 4 main races.
