The 2016 HOT ROD Power Tour is the 22nd running of the world’s largest road trip with thousands of cars, hot rods and trucks from all over the US. This year, Power Tour is June 11-17, and it hits seven cities, starting in Gonzales, Louisiana, and ending in Kansas City, Missouri.
Day 7 – Kansas City, Kansas
The Last day of the tour was held at Kansas Speedway. Vendors talked about how this could quite possibly be the hottest tour to date. The crowds got smaller with every stop but the Long Haulers made their way to stop #7. We also raffled off a complete E-Street EFI system to one very lucky person.
Day 6 – Valley Center, Kansas
On the final stretch of the tour, we arrive at the Kansas Pavilions in the city of Valley Center. With an expected heat index of well over 100 degrees, we set up the trailer quick and fast in the AM to avoid heat stroke. The gates opened at 11am and we were ready to meet and great with the spectators.
Day 5 – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
We set up Big Red (our Mid West trailer) at Remington Park for day 5. With an estimated heat index of 115 degree’s, we didnt have a chance to go out and take pictures so we sent our robot Drone to get an aerial view of the event.
Day 4 – Grand Prairie, Texas
Every Power Tour, VIP sponsors throw a Cruise night. We teamed up with Painless Performance to have a Barbecue at their headquarters in Fort Worth. We broke the trailer down early and made our way over to Painless.
Day 3 – Austin, Texas
Following with tradition of horsepower and performance, stop #3 was at Circuit of the Americas. This grade 1 FIA specification 3.427-mile track is located in Elroy, on the southeastern periphery of Austin city limits, in Central Texas.
Day 2 – Baytown, Texas
Hitting Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown with expected rains in the afternoon, we parked big red and set up for one heck of a show. With the floors soaked from the night before we didntĀ expect to have any drag racing going on. Right after 2:00PM people started lining up in the pits and so did we inĀ our Justine Challenger ( Christine’s evil cousin).
Day 1 – Gonzales, Louisiana
The day started with cloudy skies and high temperatures. By mid day the clouds rolled in with fury and dumped buckets of rain over everyone. A good majority of participants moved on to stop 2 early to be the rain.
