Darin was  working on a CDBA points lead and wanted to remain number one so this was a big race for their team. After Saturday qualifying Darin ended up 3rd. On Sunday in the first round of eliminations, Darin was paired against Bryan Gilday in a blown alcohol hydro, he ran a 8.174 @ 106.25 mph slowing down as he did not leave the line and broke.  In the Second Round, Darin had a tough round with Dan Jensen, he ran a 8.013 @ 116.42 mph against his 8.091 @ 141mph for the win!!

In the third round, Darin was paired us up against the always tough Mike Lewis in a boat named Juggernaut,  he had very similar RT’s – .103 to his .130 and at mid track he was more than two boats back. Darin came thru the 1,000 ft traps and he peddled it thinking that we didn’t want to break out and ended up running 8.158 @ 107.27mph to Mike’s 7.998 @ 146.81mph (breakout) giving them the WIN!!

Congratulations to Darin and team for clinching the CDBA Pro Eliminator High Points Championship!

The World Finals is the largest drag boat race of the season and this was Darin’s first time going. Qualifying started on Friday and continued through Saturday with Eliminations on Sunday.  Darin relied on his Edelbrock Qwikdata 2 to see what tune up they would use. The first pass off the trailer Darin went 8.021 @ 117.34 mph, which set him as the top qualifier out of 19 boats in his class. Darin remained number one until the last qualifying pass on Saturday where he pushed it too hard and ended up running a 7.956 and two other boats ran 8.004 and 8.006,  giving him the third position.

First round eliminations paired Darin against Mark Reese in a boat named Hydro Quarter Zone. Darin left the line a bit lazy with a RT of .229 to Mark’s .613. Darin ran a 8.074 to Mark’s 8.150 for a first round win!!

In the second round Darin was paired up against Jerry Hardwick in a boat named Texas Red. Darin sat on the starting line for over an hour and by the time he were set to go the motor had cooled down enough to cause a bog on the hit of the throttle.  Darin knew he was in trouble at that time as Jerry had been running good numbers all weekend.  Darin caught a .194 light to hJerry’s .107 light and Jerry ran a 8.050 to Darin’s losing 8.138.

Darin couldn’t have had a better season as he finished as the CDBA Pro Eliminator high points championship!

“We couldn’t have done it without the help of Edelbrock Racing and we thank all of those who helped us throughout the entire season.  We cannot wait to see what next year brings and with the help of Edelbrock we are set up for success”, stated Darin Moilanen.
