You are obviously very passionate about your job and your knowledge about the history of Edelbrock was unbelievable. Once again thank you for everything and I will be letting everyone know what an amazing experience we had.

Not sure if you have this one in your archives but I have also attached a picture of the cover of my Popular Hot Rodding magazine that I brought back in 1980 !!! It has one of my favourite engine build-ups by Curt Hooker from Edelbrock. The article shows how to build a 800hp BBC Chevy (blown or carbureted) engine for Vic’s race boat.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio Technical College (OTC) and Edelbrock, LLC announce the opening of The Edelbrock Performance Academy, a program designed to give students a solid foundation in the building and tuning of high performance products.

The Edelbrock Performance Academy at OTC provides students with the skills necessary to efficiently increase a vehicle’s performance through planning, installation and modification of high performance engine components, superchargers, nitrous, fuel injection systems and more.

The 12-week, 300-hour course consists of nine different training modules covering intake manifolds and carburetor design, cams and lifters, cylinder heads, computer tuning, fuel injection, forced induction, nitrous oxide, data acquisition systems as well as the history of Edelbrock and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).
“It is important for the students to learn and understand the origins of Edelbrock and SEMA. We constructed this curriculum with the help and input from Vic and Christi Edelbrock. So much so, the Edelbrock Performance Academy will share a resemblance to Vic’s own garage – right down to the photos on the walls,” said Bill Abbott, head instructor of the Edelbrock Performance Academy at OTC. “The course is offered to advanced OTC students and features training from the school’s High Performance and Racing program. This is a true, hands-on course that’s based on learning through discovery.

“The students will break down many of the parts on their own and will work on actual vehicles from configuration and installation to dyno-testing and tuning. As with all OTC classes, the Edelbrock Performance Academy will focus on more than just mechanics, teaching students the importance of a strong work ethic, customer service skills and the technical know-how.”

The Edelbrock Performance Academy was originated when Christi Edelbrock, Vice President of Business Development at Edelbrock, and Justin Brenner, Director of Corporate Development for OTC, met at SEMA to create a concept of a training course that directly teaches the manufacturer’s catalog product line.
OTC and Edelbrock spent months diligently developing the ideal curriculum and facility to help today’s student technician. OTC learned the Edelbrock philosophy behind its history as well as how its parts are manufactured to create an authentic course, and received direct feedback from Christi and Vic during the planning stages.

“Students gain an advantage in the workforce by completing the Edelbrock Performance Academy by receiving hands-on training using the latest products from Edelbrock,” said Christi Edelbrock. “This course is ideal for those pursuing a career as an engine dynamometer test technician at a performance shop or other tuner positions on a unique builder, race team or at a specialty aftermarket installer.”
Upon completion of the Edelbrock Academy program, the students receive a certificate signifying their specialized, high-performance training.

It is official—Redline Motorsports (Schenectady, NY) has announced its move to Pompano Beach, Florida, nestled directly in the middle between Miami and Palm Beach as each is a short 35 minute drive north or south of Pompano Beach. The news comes after Redline Motorsports celebrates a 12 year history in its New York home but the move is happening with excitement and exceptional growth potential.

“The move was required to sustain the growth we’ve experienced in the past few years,” says Howard Tanner, proprietor of the famous EFI specialty shop. He continues, “our marketing plan heading into the future is bringing Redline to a higher level in service and performance and South Florida’s excellent weather all year will allow us to grow to those expectations.” Redline will continue development and production of its specialty cars, including the HTR series, Baldwin Performance models, and a soon-to-be announced limited edition Camaro based off the ZL1 platform. In addition to the dealer-sold vehicles the shop is expanding its services to be a full-service custom shop as well as a horsepower haven.

Another major reason for the move is Pompano Beach’s close proximity to Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) and Homestead-Miami Speedway, both less than 40 minutes away and open 12 months of the year with dozens of regular events and test/tune sessions. And if Tanner and his Redline entity needed even more convincing the move to Florida is the right one—the major automotive enthusiast’s magazine brands GM High Tech Performance, Super Chevy, and Vette Magazines are headquartered in Tampa. “I’ve worked really well with those magazines over the past several years and being much closer to their offices will ensure our friendship and professional working relationship continues to grow bigger and better,” explains Tanner. He also pointed out Two Guys Garage, featured on the Speed Channel, has its studio in Tampa as well. Tanner adds, “Two Guys Garage is filming the build of a customer’s 800hp Supercar Camaro this summer, which is exciting because being in Florida helped solidify the 30- minute TV show deal.”

The HTR Performance vehicles will continue being offered through a dealer and Redline has teamed up with Tropical Chevrolet, located 15 minutes from South Beach Miami. Tropical Chevrolet is one of the leaders in the Camaro and Corvette market of South Florida. “I am grateful and humbled by the success we experienced with DeNooyer Chevrolet in New York. It was a great relationship and we produced an awesome performance model that was different from the norm. Our new Florida location, however, necessitated the need to find a dealer that was local to the shop and Tropical Chevrolet made the most sense. It’s a strong dealership with deep roots in the community—they are the perfect partner for continuing the HTR and Baldwin Performance lines of vehicles,” expresses Tanner.

In closing Tanner says, “I would like to thank all of our customers who have stood by us and helped us grow to the prominent performance shop that Redline is today.
