Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Champions to Earn Trip to NASCAR Acceleration Weekend

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

TORRANCE, CA (October 26, 2011) – NASCAR Performance and Edelbrock have announced the inclusion of the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge winners in NASCAR Acceleration Weekend as part of the prize package for the overall championship-winning team, which will be crowned at the third annual “Showdown at SEMA” in Las Vegas, NV on Nov. 4, 2011.

Six Divisional winners and four wildcard teams will compete at the “Showdown at SEMA”, sponsored by Edelbrock, and held Nov. 1 – 4 in the grand lobby of the SEMA (Specialty Market Equipment Association) Show. The top-10 high school auto tech teams who advanced via regional competitions across the country will compete head-to-head for the best average time as they tear down and rebuild identically built Chevy 350 high performance engines. Teams, which are made up of five students plus an instructor/coach, must properly disassemble the engine using hand tools only with proper de-torque and disassembly procedure, all while being viewed by judges and spectators. Time added penalties for dropped components, improper disassembly, assembly, and sportsmanship will be added to ensure correct assembly. When reassembled, the engines should fire up and run if gas, water, and oil were added. The team with the fastest time, including penalty minutes wins.

49 in 9… try 7

Monday, October 10th, 2011

In 2009 and 2011 Dave Schaub drove his Edelbrock powered 1932 Ford Roadster through two countries and 49 continental United States.  Each trip was completed without a hitch.  This trip was important to us because Dave was able to complete both of these drives flawlessly utilizing an Edelbrock Crate Motor and Edelbrock Performance Lubricants and these were charity drives to fund the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford. These were not your everyday drives. These were very extreme drives; the first one covered 9,856 miles in 8 days. The most resent was in September of 2011 when Dave Schaub drove to 49 states in 7 days, 14 hours and 21 minutes.

Please take the time to watch the interview with Dave Schaub.

A little word from Dave and his views on Edelbrock Performance.

In 2009 and 2011 I did some extreme drives through 49 states to help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford. Each time I drove my 1932 Ford Roadster, equipped with the Edelbrock Crate Motor.

I’ve logged over 52,000 miles on that motor. The motor still performs like it was new with great power and torque. Driving it hard each day for 18 to 20 hours a day really put the motor to the test. The Edelbrock Performance Lubricants were a big part of the success of the resent “49in7 Drivin’ for the Kids” event. Driving through 49 states in just 7 days, 14 hours and 21 minutes. Now that is a test!

Power that you can depend on… choose Edelbrock!

Mod Jobs – Episode 1

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

ModJobs follows the modification of a 2012 Ford Mustang GT by a team of professionals in four different auto shops throughout Los Angeles. Each week, the series features a different video focusing on one aspect of the modification, and showing you how to do something like this yourself. In fact, the producers of ModJobs actively solicit the community to share input and determine what the car will look like at the end of the process. And once the car is in tip-top, cherry condition, eBay will have it listed on auction, with the proceeds going to help the Patriot Outreach organization.

Patriot Outreach supports military personnel, retirees, veterans, contractors and their families. The mission is twofold: to provide confidential access to effective resources for those people suffering as a result of traumatic experience while in the service of our nation, and to provide a forum whereby experienced professionals can share their expertise and experience.  eBay is pleased to provide exposure to this organization that supports our veterans.

If you visit the ModJobs page you will see this week’s episode of ModJobs, as well as links to past episodes. The first video introduces you to the team of well-known automotive experts who will work on the Mustang, as well as their first customization – kicking the horsepower up a notch by installing an Edelbrock E-force supercharger in the car.

Edelbrock Tours the Henry Ford Museum

Edelbrock Tours the Henry Ford Museum

With the Hot Rod Power Tour ending this year in Detroit, we couldn’t let the opportunity escape us when we were invited to visit the Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan for a special guided tour. When we got there we expected the typical museum experience. We had no idea what was in store or the special access we would be granted.

The Henry Ford Museum was born out of the automotive industrialists love for preserving items of historical significance as well as items used by the common man. The complex is massive! The 90+ acres houses an amazing collection of Americana including automobiles, trains, planes, various manufacturing machines, trinkets, crafts and more. It even is home to many different buildings of historic significance. The dwellings were brought to the complex from locations around the world and re-assembled brick by brick to their original     grandeur.  Notable buildings include Thomas Edison’s original Menlo Park, New Jersey Complex, the Wright Brothers North Carolina Cycling/Airplane fabrication shop and a replica of Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

We were overwhelmed to say the least. There is no way to see everything in one day but we were lucky that we had a private guided tour and were able to hit the highlights as well as see a few things that the general guest does not (i.e. Behind the scenes)

On our special tour we were able to view some amazing vehicles including some of the vehicles the museum was preparing for a new 80,000 square foot exhibit titled Driving America coming in 2012. Vehicles such as the first Ford Mustang prototype, various race cars including Bill Eliotts number 9 NASCAR, Jim Clark’s 1965 Indy winning Lotus and the Edelbrock flathead equipped 1960 Buck and Thompson Class D Slingshot Dragster.

We were also able to visit the massive archives of the museum and see some really amazing historical pieces including letters from Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Edison. We were given the opportunity to leaf through personal photo albums/scrapbooks from various events including multi family camping trips the Ford family took with the Edison and Firestone families. There was so much to see and such little time.

Next we were escorted around the Greenfield Village area via Model T’s to view the various buildings that Ford has collected over the years. Buildings such as Edison’s Menlo Park Complex. The original laboratory where Thomas Edison invented the Light bulb and so many other incredible inventions was re-located here back in 1929.

Other notable buildings include Henry Fords birthplace, and the first house to enjoy electrical service among many others we didn’t have time to visit. While in the Edison laboratory, Vic, Nancy and Christi were able to record their voices on an original Edison Phonograph which was a real treat. We also visited the Wright Brothers Bicycle Shop/Airplane Fabrication Shop where they constructed the first Airplane. American ingenuity at its finest.

By now the day had flown by and it was getting late. We were treated to one more really incredible honor. A formal dinner for our entourage in one of the historic Greenfield buildings. Here, Vic was presented with a really nice framed image of the 1960 Buck and Thompson Edelbrock Equipped Dragster. The atmosphere was really amazing as we sat there eating, socializing and taking in all the historic Americana and nostalgia of the Henry Ford Museum.

We had heard that this place was amazing, but we had no idea it was that AMAZING! Special thanks to The Henry Ford Museum for the special tour and access! If you haven’t been yet… GO!

Edelbrock Unleashes 50-State Street-Legal E-Force Supercharger System for 2011 5.0L Ford Mustang GT

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

TORRANCE, CA (March 17, 2011) – Edelbrock is excited to announce the release of their E-Force Supercharger system for 2011 Ford Mustangs equipped with a 5.0L 4V engine (#1588). Based in large part on the existing supercharger for 2005-10 Mustangs, this new kit will allow the 2011 Mustang to produce 559 horsepower and 503 ft-lbs. of torque with low boost. This design is engineered and manufactured by Edelbrock and features an Eaton® Twin Vortices Series (TVS®) 2300 GEN VI rotor assembly – the same internals used on the new Corvette ZR-1.

The supercharger assembly is integrated into Edelbrock’s unique intake manifold for a truly seamless design with minimal components. The intake features 15″ long runners for maximum low-end torque and an integrated bypass valve that helps reduce parasitic loss under light throttle, which improves mileage potential. Keeping the air cool is a 110 square inch, high capacity, air to water intercooler – the largest of its kind available on the market today – and a full face low temp heat exchanger. It has been designed to meet 50-State emissions and work with all OEM emissions equipment (E.O. Number D-215-77).

This complete Edelbrock E-Force supercharger kit includes everything you need to bolt it on under the hood of a 2011 Mustang GT, including supercharger/manifold assembly, fuel injectors, air-to-water intercooler and a handheld flash programmer to properly tune the factory ECU for the added power. Edelbrock offers 3 levels of optional powertrain warranty terms – including 3-Year/36,000 mile and 5-Year/60,000 mile, offering up to $19,000 of coverage, for peace of mind when installing on a brand new car.

Edelbrock also offers a competition version of this system (#1589). Edelbrock E-Force Competition Supercharger systems are based off of our popular street systems, but are pared down to the essential components that a racer needs, without the extras that experienced racers prefer to customize for their own competitive advantage. They include the essential supercharger package components with selectable options based on your purpose built needs – from our Competition Air Intake Systems to fuel injectors, pulleys and much more.

    Features Include:

  • 2300cc (140 cubic inch) Eaton® TVS® GEN VI rotor assembly
  • Unique intake manifold design with 15″ long runners for increased low-end torque
  • 100,000 mile self-contained oiling system
  • Installs under the stock hood with no modifications
  • Complete package includes supercharger/intake assembly, air-box lid, fuel injectors, air-to-water intercooler, and flash tuner with proper calibration
  • Optional 5 Year/60,000 mile warranty
  • Made in USA for absolute quality and performance
  • 50 State Emissions Legal (E.O. Number D-215-77)
  • Retail Price: $6,495.87
