Edelbrock would like to wish Chavez High School in Houston, Texas the best of luck at the Texas Mile. With the donation of Edelbrock Cylinder Heads and the hard work of the talented kids in the program, The motor is almost complete and close to ready. In addition to the Edelbrock Heads, they also added 1.7 Pro Comp roller rockers, a 102mm Pro Comp Intake, and are going to add a Pro Comp fuel rail this week to fit the intake.

A word From Greg Ditch…

“The students have also replaced the stock clutch with a lightweight aluminum flywheel and multi disc clutch, the drive shaft was upgraded to a single piece aluminum, and our axles were upgraded to handle the extra power too.

Our 2006 GTO is just about ready to hit the track for testing and March 22-24 we will enter the car at The Texas Mile.  NASCAR driver Donnie Neuenberger will take the wheel on the car at the event.

Thank you for your support and donation.  I hope Edelbrock is able to continue support of our program as we begin to grow and expand.  The program is now labeled “Motor Sports Engineering” and is located within our school’s Academy of Engineering.  Chavez High School is a “typical” inner-city, low income school but we are hoping to show the world that we are able to break many stereotypes associated with this label.

The kids are looking for success at the Texas Mile and they are hoping to build a program that will allow us to eventually compete at Speed Weeks at the Bonneville Salt Flats next summer.
