5th Annual Race and Performance Expo

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Expanded Race & Performance Expo Returns To Chicagoland Feb. 25-26  Race and Performance Expo packed wall to wall with race products.

For those in the Midwest where Old Man Winter still has his blustery cold and snowy grip with seemingly no end in sight, it’s still a couple of months until the ovals and quarter miles in the heart of America swing their gates open for another season of racing. And that means it’s high time for racers to get those last-minute essential parts and racing gear before spring. And what better place to buy than direct from manufacturers, where you can check out, try, and discuss the products directly with those who design, manufacture, and sell them?

On February 25-26, the Race and Performance Expo returns to St. Charles, Ill. – this year expanded to encompass two buildings at the beautiful Pheasant Run Resort.
5th Annual Race and Performance Expo
Meet special guests Vic and Christi Edelbrock on Saturday February 25th!

The Mega center at Pheasant Run will once again house the eve-growing Race and Performance Expo, featuring displaying exhibitors from many of the top names in the racing and aftermarket industry, from Edelbrock, Auto Meter, and Comp Cams to Steve Schmidt Race Engines, Hurst Shifters, and B&M – plus many, many more. Differing from other performance aftermarket shows in the industry, the Race & Performance expo is open to all high performance enthusiasts, allowing what organizers describe at the true grass roots racer, engine, or chassis builder to meet one-on-one with manufacturers and distributors for the parts they need and the questions they’d like to ask.

The DuPage building, meanwhile, will be hosting the Circle Track Expo, bringing together exhibitors the likes of JR Motorsports, Allstar Performance, Roush-Yates Engines, Moroso, and many others for Late Models, Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Midgets, and more.
1st Annual Circle Track Expo

In addition to manufacturers and distributors, a number of tracks and sanctioning bodies will be present to answer questions, educate potential racers, and get those racers signed up. The Race and Performance Expowill also feature 30 high schools going head-to-head in the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge, featuring intense and entertaining competition culminating in victory and a trip to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas for the competition finale later this year.

Along with a number of informative seminars, providing expert knowledge of performance driving and safe driving skills, advanced track driving techniques, cylinder head and intake porting techniques, and much more.

This year’s Race and Performance Expo, a one-of-a-kind consumer and trade show, will feature over 300 booths and more then 200 manufacturers and motorsports retailers, hosting over 10,000 hardcore racers, street performance enthusiasts, engine builders, and fabricators. Within the more than 200 exhibitors who are slated to be at the show will be Performance Retailers providing the products you need there and then, so bring your wallet.
The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow returns to kick off their 5th Season

The Race and Performance Expo began in 2008 and a huge success from the very beginning, drawing exhibitors and attendees from across the country in its first two years on its way to becoming the largest High Performance Expo of its kind in the Midwest.

The 2012 Race and Performance Expo and Circle Track Expo will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 25-26 at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Ill. On the Race and Performance Expo website, you’ll find a complete listing of show times, vendors, floor layout, maps, and additional show information. Admission to the show is just $10, and the parking is free. Mark your calendars, bring your walking shoes, and come ready to buy!

    Engine Charity Sweepstakes

    Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

A new fundraising record was set as a Reher-Morrison race engine was raffled off to raise money for the Victory Junction Gang Camp

    7 Engine Charity Sweepstakes

A record amount of fundraising for the Victory Junction Gang Camp took place in Machinery Row, where a Reher-Morrison race engine was raffled off in the popular Engine Charity Sweepstakes.

Organized by Sunnen Products and PRI, raffle tickets could be purchased for the Engine Charity Sweepstakes in Machinery Row, with proceeds going to the Victory Junction charity, a race-themed camp for children with chronic illnesses, started by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son, Adam.

On Saturday, December 3, the race engine built by Reher-Morrison Racing Engines, Arlington, Texas, was given away to one lucky winner.

“It’s a Dart block, a short deck 9.8” big block, 4.625” bore, 4.375” stroke, Manley rods, Ross pistons, Edelbrock manifold. It makes 1200 horsepower and 860 ft-lbs torque and is worth $26,500,” explained Johnny Claridge of Reher-Morrison.

Other companies that donated parts for the engine include Akerly & Childs, ARP, ATI, BHJ, Billet Fabrication, Bruce Lowrie GMC, Cometic, CV Products, Erson, Fel Pro, Full Bore, Gary Williams, Isky, JE Pistons, Jesel, Lokar, Mallory, Manton, Midwest Engineering, Milodon, Moroso, Mr. Gasket, MSD, NGK, O’Reilly’s, PAC Springs, Pioneer, Pro Filer, RMRE, Star Machine, T&D Machine, Trend Performance, Total Seal, US Seal, VP Fuels and XRP.

“The response for this was just incredible. The minute we were on board, people were calling us who we don’t even do business with wanting to be involved, and we were luckily able to involve several companies,” Claridge explained.

The winning ticket, picked by David Reher, belonged to Jim Hughes from Hughes Performance in Phoenix, Arizona.

Bob Davis, of Sunnen, announced a new record for fundraising. “I am excited to announce that the grand total of donations for the 2011 PRI/Sunnen Charity Engine Sweepstakes is $31,590.00, making it by far the most we have ever collected,” he said.

Reher-Morrison would like to thank everyone involved in the success of the 2011 PRI/Sunnen Charity Engine Sweepstakes. We are so excited  that almost  $32,000.00 was raised for Victory Junction!
None of this could have been achieved without the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.  From the manufacturers that donated  parts to those at Sunnen and PRI for their commitment to such a successful  project .

It was a pleasure to work with all of you and we look forward to doing it again in 2012!

    Congrats Dean Soderblom

    Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Edelbrock would like to congratulate Dean Soderblom for participating and wining the Edelbrock Carb and Manifold give-a-way Raffle at the Goodguys Car Show in Pleasanton CA.  Dean will be taking home a single-carb and manifold combo, as well as valve covers and an air cleaner.  We hope to receive photographs of your engine bay after all your new shiny under the hood components are installed.

    1 Congrats Dean Soderblom

Here is a word from the lucky winner.

Hi my name is Dean Soderblom, I live on a farm in King Valley, Victoria Australia. All of my family is involved in cars, we have 1934 Chevy Sedan Hot Rod, we also run a 207 MPH 1993 Ford Thunderbird NASCAR on the Lake Gairdner Salt Lake in Australia. I also drag race a 1976 Holden Torana, which runs 10.69 on the quarter mile.

I Just recently visited the USA for a holiday with my Dad and friends, while there we visited many places and events with our last show being the Goodguys Street Rod Nationals in Pleasanton.  While at the Nationals we were admiring the products at the Edelbrock trailer, where I filled in an entry for a chance to win Carb and Manifold kit with Signature Series air cleaner and valve covers.

On returning home to Australia I couldn’t believe my luck when I received the message that my entry had been drawn. I would like to thank Mr. Edelbrock and his company for running this great promotion. We have both a 1934 Chevy roadster and a three window coupe as well as a 1956 Chevy sedan awaiting full rebuilds which we can use these products. We greatly appreciated and will be put them to very good use. Thanks again to Mr. Edelbrock.

    Regards
    Dean Soderblom

    2 Congrats Dean Soderblom

SEE YOU AT THE NEXT SHOW!!!

UPCOMING COVERAGE OF THE ROLEX MONTEREY MOTORSPORTS REUNION ON SPEED CHANNEL THIS SUNDAY 3:30 EST

    Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Vic and Christi competed this year with the Corvette 614, Shelby 55, Smokey Camaro 13 and the Boss 16. It was a great event with record crowds.
The Smokey Car had a mechanical incident so unfortunately they had to start last on the grid for the Saturday afternoon race. Vic in the 16 car, lost oil pressure in the Saturday morning race so he didn’t make the race in the afternoon.
They also ran a great carburetor contest for high school auto shop kids at the Edelbrock west coast event trailer. Each participant received $1000 scholarship from Ohio Technical College with the winning team receiving  $5000, 2nd place $3000, 3rd place $2500. These contests are easy to do providing great opportunities for the kids, they are not teaching anything about carburetion at the high school level anymore!

Road America – Thoughts from the Road!

    Thursday, August 18th, 2011

A couple weeks back we enjoyed a nice trip to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin to race our vintage cars at the Kohler International Challenge at Road America. Along the way, we made a few stops we thought we would share.

First we stopped off at the ROUSH Headquarters for a tour. It was really nice to see the collection  of vehicles housed there. On our tour, it was interesting to note what the ROUSH team was working on. Besides their usual automotive projects, this time they were rebuilding engines for a vintage P51 Mustang aircraft. They had completely overhauled the engine and were in the re-assembly phase when we were there.

Our second stop brought us back to the Henry Ford Museum and Proving Grounds in Dearborn Michigan. This place was so big we couldn’t see and experience it all the first time at the end of the 2011 Hot Rod Power Tour. This time we were treated to areas we didn’t experience on our first visit. We got to see more of the industrial equipment on display  as well as a few more historic vehicles.

We were also treated to a tour of Ford’s Dearborn Development Center, formerly Dearborn Proving Ground, which in turn was the former Ford Airport. We toured the site with a professional driver and then were taken on a one on one for a performance spin in Fords NEW BOSS 302 Mustang. It was a really great experience. Thanks to all who made the visit possible.

The Race at Road America was a great time! We really enjoyed running the cars here again. Great people, beautiful surroundings and a great track made for a wonderful weekend. One of our vintage cars, the #16 George Follmer Trans-Am Boss Mustang was a class winner in the Road & Track Concourse. The event was very well attended and the Edelbrock cars were a big hit. Enjoy the photos and video. Until next time… See you on the road.
